About
Living Notes is an independent publication covering biology and health science for a general audience. Its purpose is to make developments easier to understand and to verify, through clear explanations and transparent sourcing.
Mission
Biology and health coverage is often either too technical to follow or too sensational to trust. Living Notes aims to sit between them, presenting accurate information in plain language and showing the evidence behind it.
Coverage
- Explainers. Clear introductions to core concepts in genetics, cell biology and human health.
- Health science. Plain-language summaries of what public health agencies and research institutes say, with the original sources linked.
- Research in context. What new findings show, and what they do not.
Editorial standards
- Sourcing. Articles are based on reputable sources, including government health agencies, research institutes, scientific journals and established news organizations. Each article lists the sources it relies on.
- Verification. Facts are checked against the cited sources before publication. Where sources disagree, the article reports the discrepancy.
- Use of AI. AI tools assist with research, outlining and drafting. All content is reviewed and edited by a human before publication, and responsibility for accuracy rests with the publisher.
- Independence. If advertising or affiliate relationships are introduced, they will be clearly disclosed and will not influence editorial decisions.
