Controls
- Rotate: drag with the mouse or a finger. The arrow keys also rotate the view when the model has focus.
- Zoom: scroll wheel, pinch, or the plus and minus keys.
- Phones and tablets: swiping up or down on the model scrolls the page, and swiping sideways rotates it. Tap Rotate freely to turn page scrolling off and drag in any direction, and tap it again (it then says Scroll page) to scroll.
- Systems: the panel on the left switches the skin, muscular, skeletal, circulatory, respiratory, digestive, nervous, urinary, endocrine and immune and lymphatic systems on and off. The arrow beside a system lists its parts.
- Parts: click a part in the model or choose it from the list to zoom to it and read facts. With Focus on, everything else fades so the selection stands out. Solid skin shows the outside of the body.
- Moving parts: the heart beats and the lungs and diaphragm move in a slow breathing cycle, unless the device is set to reduce motion.
About the model
The figure is a simplified teaching model built from smooth geometric shapes, with about 80 parts across ten body systems. Organ sizes, positions and shapes are approximations and differ from person to person. It is not a medical tool and does not replace professional advice. Several parts link to articles on this site with more detail, such as the heart, the gut microbiome and sleep.
